Abstract

The increasing challenges of waste management in urban areas demand innovative and sustainable solutions. This project proposes an IoT-based smart waste management system that leverages sensors, microcontrollers, and cloud technology to monitor waste bins in real time. Ultrasonic and load sensors detect bin fill levels and weight, while the data is transmitted to a central cloud server for processing and analysis. A web-based dashboard enables municipal authorities to track bin status, receive notifications, and plan optimized collection routes. By dispatching trucks only when bins are nearly full, the system reduces operational costs, minimizes fuel consumption, prevents overflow, and enhances urban cleanliness. Overall, this approach provides an efficient, data-driven, and environmentally friendly solution to waste management in smart cities.
