Abstract

ABSTRACT This study analyzed the effect of socio economic factors on malaria susceptibility in pregnant women in Oyo town. An exploratory descriptive quantitative research analysis was performed to investigate and analyze the Malaria susceptibility in pregnant women is significantly influenced by socio-economic factors, particularly in regions with high multidimensional poverty, tribal populations, and forest cover. The instrument of the study will be questionnaire. It will be face validated. A reliability exercise will be carried out whereby the questionnaire will be given to one hundred (200) respondents. Their responses was analyzed using simple percentage. Pregnant women in these areas face increased vulnerability due to limited access to healthcare, lack of awareness, and cultural factors. The impact of malaria can be severe, resulting in maternal anemia, low birth weight, preterm delivery, and maternal deaths. Targeted interventions such as distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets, improved healthcare access, and health education are crucial to mitigate these risks. Addressing socio-economic determinants of health is essential to reduce malaria burden and promote better maternal and child health outcomes in vulnerable regions. Conclusions was also made that the intersection of poverty, ethnicity, geography, and limited access to healthcare creates a perfect storm of vulnerability for pregnant women in high risk regions
