Abstract

This research was conducted at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta to determine the response of above ground traits of guinea grass dominated grassland to disturbance and fertilization. The experiment was carried out on an existing Megathyrsus maximus dominated grassland site that was developed in the year 2021 as part of Disturbance and Resources across Global Grasslands Network (DRAG NET) Nigerian site. The experiment followed a 2×2 factorial design with two levels of disturbance (till and non-till) and two fertilizer rates (0 and 200kg per hectare), with each treatment replicated three times.NPK 15:15:15 fertilizer was applied to the designated plots at the rate of 0 and 200kg per hectare. Broadcasting method was used for application, ensuring an even distribution of the fertilizer across the plots. The plots assigned to disturbance was disturbed by tilling with the aid of cutlass, hoe and shovel. This was done to ensure proper removal of the vegetation and tilling of the soil. The results showed that fertilizer application significantly (p
