EFFECT OF IMMUNE BOOSTER ON TESTICULAR APOPTOTIC MARKERS IN LEAD-EXPOSED MALE WISTAR RAT
Abstract
Lead is a widespread environmental pollutant known to exert toxic effects on various body organs, particularly the male reproductive system. Exposure to lead has been associated with oxidative stress, cellular damage, impaired spermatogenesis, and increased apoptosis within testicular tissues. This study investigated the effect of Simply Precious Immune Booster (SPIB) on testicular apoptotic markers in lead-exposed male Wistar rats. The study aimed to determine the phytochemical constituents of SPIB, validate its safety through acute toxicity assessment, evaluate changes in body and relative testicular weights, assess testicular apoptosis using Caspase-3 as a biomarker, and examine histological alterations in testicular tissues.
A total of healthy adult male Wistar rats were randomly assigned into experimental groups and treated accordingly. Lead acetate was administered to induce reproductive toxicity, while varying doses of SPIB were administered to evaluate its protective effects. Standard phytochemical screening and acute toxicity tests were conducted. Body weight, relative testicular weight, Caspase-3 expression, and histopathological changes in testicular tissues were subsequently evaluated using established laboratory procedures.
