Abstract

This research examines the topic “The Role of Information Managers in Mitigating Cyber security Risk in Global Organizations.” In today’s digital era, organizations depend heavily on technological systems to store, process, and manage information. However, increased reliance on digital platforms has exposed organizations to various cyber security threats such as data breaches, unauthorized access, phishing, hacking, and identity theft. The need for strong cyber security risk management has therefore become a global concern. The aim of the study was to determine how information managers contribute to the reduction and prevention of cyber security threats in global organizations. The research also sought to examine the level of awareness and preparedness of information managers toward cyber security challenges and the role of organizational policies in supporting secure digital environments. The study adopted a descriptive research design. Primary data were obtained through a structured questionnaire administered to information managers and employees in selected global organizations. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and frequency tables. The findings revealed that information managers play a crucial role in cyber security by ensuring data confidentiality, enforcing information access control, monitoring digital systems, implementing cyber security policies, and promoting cyber security training among employees. The result further showed that cyber incidents are often caused by human errors, poor password practices, and inadequate knowledge of digital security. The study recommends that organizations should invest in continuous cyber security training, employ more proactive risk management strategies, and involve information managers in every phase of digital security planning. Strengthening organizational policies and adopting emerging technologies such as multi-factor authentication and data encryption can significantly reduce cyber risks.
