Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the integration of emerging technologies in automobile maintenance within the technical curriculum of colleges of education in Plateau State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was employed, targeting lecturers and students, with a sample of 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire designed to assess perceptions of the integration of technologies such as electric vehicles, automotive software, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The instrument was validated by experts and demonstrated a reliability coefficient of 0.85. Analysis revealed that lecturers recognized the importance of integrating emerging technologies but expressed concerns regarding institutional support and resource availability. The study concluded that while the integration of these technologies is necessary to align the curriculum with industry standards, challenges related to training and infrastructure must be addressed. Recommendations included enhancing professional development for educators, modernizing laboratory facilities, and fostering industry partnerships to improve educational outcomes
