DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF 1KVA SOLAR POWER SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study concentrated on the design and installation of 1.1KVA solar power system at HOD's
office. The methodology adopted for the study include design, load analysis, cost analysis,
testing of components on individual basis, installation of solar system and testing the
work-ability of the system. However the component that were tested include panels, charge
controller, inverter and battery. The installation procedure adopted for the study initiated from
mounting of the solar panels, installation of the solar panels, universal electrical connection,
connecting the system to solar inverter, connecting solar inverter with solar battery,
connecting solar inverter to the grid and finally starting the solar inverter. The major result
obtain from the installation of 1.1KVA solar power system yield a positive outcome, where the
inverter was realized at the constant value of 220V and the panel voltage was realized at
20.5V, to which was observed as a result of using the parallel connection design. The major
recommendation made on the study was that the testing of output voltage of a solar panel
should be done critically before connecting the rest of the solar component to avoid damaging
the system, as encounter on the charge controller in the study do to higher voltage as a result
of connecting solar panels in series.
