Abstract

Recently, the use of additives in aquafeed production has garnered significant attention, as they offer the potential to enhance feed quality and efficiency while promoting the growth and health status of farmed aquaculture species. This study investigated the growth performance and proximate composition in Clarias gariepinus fed with hormone (human gonadotropin) and monodora meal diets. One hundred and eighty (180) pieces of Clarias gariepinus fingerlings were used in feeding trial for 8 weeks. The experimental diets were formulated using standard method and feeding was done twice in a day (9:00am and 5:00pm. Six treatments including the control diet were formulated. T1 (control), T2: Hormone, T3: Monodora 1, T4: Monodora 2, T5: Monodora 3, T6: Monodora 4. The growth performance parameters such as total final weight, total weight gain, specific growth rate, total feed intake, feed conversion ratio, survival rate and proximate compositions such as moisture content, crude protein, fat, ash and carbohydrate were analyzed and calculated using standard methods. Data obtained were subjected analysis of variance (ANOVA) (p
