Abstract

The study evaluated the effectiveness of library services and the level of students satisfaction at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara. The library is identified as a central pillar of academic success and it tailored to satisfy users needs. The research sought to assess how well the library meets the academic needs of students, check challenges they faced, and suggest strategies for improved services. Quantitative survey design was adopted using structured questionnaire distributed to about 538 undergraduate students in the university, of which 485 were properly filled, retrieved and used for the study. This indicated 90.2% response rate and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study showed that the students were satisfied with library services offered by the institution mostly in areas like book borrowing, staff responsiveness but some problems such as inadequate internet connectivity, limited awareness of available resources and restricted hours were also observed to be inadequate. Students expressed strong support for the suggested strategies such as extended library hours, enhanced ICT infrastructure, and regular orientation programs. The study concludes that even though CUSTECH students are mostly satisfied with the library services, attending to issues raised further enhance the satisfaction of the students and their academic performance. The study recommended that the library management should pay attention to the provision of internet facilities and regular orientation and training to enhance users awareness of the available resources.
