DEVELOPMENT OF A WEB BASED BANKING APPLICATION
Abstract
In this project, the development of a secure and efficient web-based banking application using
modern technologies including Next.js, Appwrite, Plaid, and Sentry is extensively covered
theoretically and practically executed. The application is designed with a focus on scalability,
performance, and user experience by leveraging server-side rendering (SSR) provided by
Next.js, ensuring fast loading times and improved SEO. Additionally, client-side functions are
implemented to enhance interactivity and responsiveness.
Next.js, a React framework, is used to build the core architecture of the application, allowing for
server-side rendered pages to provide seamless navigation and dynamic content updates.
This enhances performance, especially for users with slower connections, by preloading critical
data at the server level.
The application integrates Appwrite, an open-source backend-as-a-service platform, which
handles key backend functionalities, including user authentication, database management, and
secure storage. This enabled me to offload much of the infrastructure work, allowing much focus
on the core features of the banking application.
To facilitate secure and reliable connections to users’ bank accounts, Plaid is used. Plaid provides
the necessary APIs to connect to financial institutions, retrieve user bank account information,
and manage transactions safely. This integration allows users to view and manage their bank
accounts from within the application in real time.
To ensure the reliability and stability of the application, Sentry is employed for error tracking and
monitoring. Sentry helps in identifying performance flaws and bugs in both server-side and
client-side code, improving the application’s overall stability.

The final product is a highly responsive, secure, and feature-rich web banking application that
provides users with a seamless and intuitive interface for managing their finances, while ensuring
high levels of security and performance through the integration of advanced technologies.
