Abstract

AbstractThis study investigates the implementation of secured wireless networks in university campuses, with Federal University Dutsin‑Ma serving as the case study. The research highlights the growing demand for reliable and secure wireless connectivity to support academic collaboration, research productivity, and student access to digital resources. The methodology involved system design, deployment, and testing of a secured wireless infrastructure integrating firewall systems, encryption protocols, and user authentication mechanisms. Findings revealed that the secured network significantly reduced risks of cyber threats such as unauthorized access, data breaches, and malware infiltration, while improving overall network efficiency and user satisfaction. The study concludes that adopting secured wireless systems in Nigerian universities is critical for enhancing ICT infrastructure, promoting digital learning, and safeguarding institutional data. It recommends continuous system monitoring, capacity building, and policy enforcement to sustain secure and efficient wireless connectivity across university campuses.
