Abstract

The significance of this study lies in understanding how digital financial services (DFS)—such as mobile banking, online payments, and digital lending platforms—are transforming access to financial systems, particularly for underserved and marginalized populations. Below are the key areas of significance: 1. Digital financial services reduce the need for physical bank branches, making it easier for people in remote or rural areas to access banking services via mobile phones or the internet. This study highlights how DFS can close the financial inclusion gap by reaching populations previously excluded from the traditional banking system. 2. Financial inclusion through DFS can lead to increased savings, access to credit, and insurance products. This study can provide insights into how such access empowers individuals—especially women, small business owners, and low-income households—to participate more actively in the economy. 3. Findings from this study can guide governments and regulatory bodies in crafting policies that foster innovation while ensuring consumer protection, data privacy, and financial stability. It can also help in identifying barriers to DFS adoption and how they can be addressed. 4. The study emphasizes the role of technology in driving financial inclusion and can encourage further investment and innovation in the fintech sector. Understanding its impact can lead to better-designed digital tools that cater to the needs of financially excluded populations. 5. Financial inclusion is a critical enabler of several SDGs, including poverty reduction, gender equality, and economic growth. This research can serve as evidence for the importance of DFS in achieving these global goals, especially in developing countries. 6. By providing equal access to financial resources, DFS can help level the playing field between different socioeconomic groups. This study is significant for understanding how inclusive financial systems contribute to reduced income disparity. This study is essential for stakeholders—including policymakers, financial institutions, NGOs, and researchers—who aim to leverage digital tools for inclusive economic development. By examining the impact of digital financial services, the study contributes to ongoing efforts to build more equitable and accessible financial ecosystems worldwide.
