Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the relationship between teacher quality, work environment, and students' academic performance in secondary schools within Orire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The research aims to identify how these two factors influence the academic achievements of students and to provide insights into areas of improvement for enhancing educational outcomes. The study employed a descriptive survey design, collecting data from secondary school teachers, administrators, and students through structured questionnaires and interviews. Teacher quality was assessed based on factors such as teaching experience, qualifications, and professional development, while work environment was examined in terms of physical resources, school management, and teacher-student relationships. Data analysis was conducted using both descriptive and inferential statistics to determine the significance of the relationship between these variables and students' academic performance. The findings reveal that both teacher quality and the work environment significantly impact students' academic outcomes, with well-equipped and supportive environments fostering better performance. Based on these results, the study recommends policy interventions aimed at improving teacher training, enhancing school infrastructure, and creating a more conducive work environment for educators. These efforts are expected to contribute to the overall improvement of students' academic achievements in the region.
