Abstract

This project designed and implemented a web-based Library Management System for the Federal Polytechnic Offa to automate manual library operations. The system addresses challenges in book tracking, borrowing processes, and user accessibility through digital automation. Developed using PHP, MySQL, and Tailwind CSS, the system features book catalog management, user registration, borrowing/return processes, and administrative controls. It employs a three-tier architecture ensuring security and scalability. The implementation followed incremental development with rigorous testing. Key features include role-based access, real-time availability checking, and automated reporting. Performance tests showed response times under three seconds for all major operations. The system successfully improves library efficiency, reduces administrative workload, and enhances user experience. It provides 24/7 accessibility and serves as a scalable platform for future enhancements.
