Abstract

PREFACE This design report presents an academic exploration into the planning, design, and development of a Community Health Center that Integrates Herbal Medicine. The project arises from the need to create a healthcare facility that harmonizes modern medical practice with traditional herbal healing systems, reflecting both contemporary scientific advancements and the rich cultural heritage of indigenous medicine in Nigeria. Furthermore, this study emphasizes sustainable design principles, including passive ventilation, natural lighting, and landscape integration. The project also highlights the significance of community participation in healthcare delivery, ensuring that the center responds effectively to local health needs while preserving traditional medical knowledge. This work contributes to the broader discourse on context-sensitive healthcare architecture and the integration of traditional medicine within formal health systems. It is hoped that this design will serve as a reference for future developments in community health infrastructure promoting wellness through innovation, sustainability, and respect for cultural identity.
