THE ROLE OF MANAGER IN EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT IN AN ORGANIZATION: A STUDY OF WEST AFRICAN CERAMICS, KOGI STATE

ABSTRACT The study investigates the role of manager in effective and efficient management of an organization: a study of West African Ceramics, Kogi State. The specific objectives were to; examine the impact of ethical standards and integrity in effective and efficient management of an organization in West African Ceramics, Kogi State; investigates the role of decision-making quality in effective and efficient management of an organization in West African Ceramics, Kogi State; to assess the impact of conflict resolution skill of manager in effective and efficient management of an organization in West African Ceramics, Kogi State; inspect the impact of vision and strategic thinking of manager in effective and efficient management of an organization in West African Ceramics, Kogi State. The study employed survey research design. The population of the study consists of 200 employees. The sample size consists of 133 employees. The study employed primary data. The primary sourced of data was used via questionnaire to obtained information from the respondents. The study employed descriptive and multiple regression analysis to test the four hypotheses. The study found that a manager's ethical standards, decision-making quality, conflict resolution skills, vision, and strategic thinking are critical to the efficient and effective management of an organization; high ethical standards foster trust and accountability, while sound decision-making ensures timely and impactful actions; effective conflict resolution promotes harmony and collaboration among employees, reducing workplace disruptions; a clear vision provides direction and purpose, inspiring teams to work towards common goals, and strategic thinking equips managers to anticipate challenges, allocate resources effectively, and sustain long-term organizational success. Conclusively, the role of the manager is pivotal in ensuring the effective and efficient management of an organization, managers serve as the driving force behind the organization's success by coordinating resources, fostering teamwork, making sound decisions, resolving conflicts, and providing strategic direction. The study recommended that, organizations should invest in regular training programs to enhance managers' leadership, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
