Abstract

ABSTRACT Over a century, car registration in Nigeria has relied on manual record-keeping, hindering the evolution of essential automotive services for vehicle identification. However, today we recognize that the power of computers is indispensable for efficiently managing data and has made significant contributions to the nation's progress. It is now well acknowledged that computers are incredibly useful tools that have greatly aided in the efficient management of information. It has also made more contributions to the country. Embracing computerization not only streamlines our lives but also holds the key to eliminating the outdated, error-prone manual data processing system that has caused countless complications in the world of car ownership. In many countries, the process of registering a motor vehicle with the relevant government authorities is a mandatory requirement when acquiring a vehicle. However, the vehicle registration system also plays a crucial role in preventing and identifying vehicle-related criminal activities. Such criminal activities not only directly threaten the nation's safety but also erode its overall integrity. The current methods for identifying vehicles and their owners have proven insufficient in preventing and resolving these criminal incidents. Inadequate data management and identification processes have left the country susceptible to security breaches, allowing unauthorized vehicles to enter and exit the nation without detection. Unregistered vehicles pose a significant risk to both road safety and security, as they often circumvent essential inspections and compliance measures, compromising their fitness for road use., in response to thisdemands an automated vehicle identification system has become a necessity to efficiently identify vehicles alongside its owner. This project proposes to design and implement an automated vehicle identification system that uses a scanner application on mobile devices and a website for enrolling vehicle information
