Abstract

Efficient hostel management is vital to the smooth operation of tertiary institutions. Manual methods of allocating hostels often lead to inaccuracies, duplication of records, and inefficiency. This project, titled “Design and Implementation of Hostel Allocation System”, was developed to automate and improve hostel management processes at Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila. The system was designed as a web-based platform, implemented using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL. It consists of modules for administrators (to manage hostels, rooms, and student data) and students (to apply and check hostel allocation status). Testing confirmed the system’s ability to allocate rooms efficiently without duplication, maintain accurate records, and allow real-time updates. The proposed system improves transparency, reduces administrative workload, and serves as a scalable solution adaptable to other academic institutions.
