Abstract The study focused on the perceived influence of parents’ socioeconomic factors on secondary school students’ performance in computer science in Makurdi Local Government Area. The study employed a descriptive survey design and Simple random sampling was used to select 309 secondary school students to be used as sample for the study. Four research questions and four null hypotheses were formulated for the study. Data for the study were collected using Perceived Influence of Parents’ Socioeconomic Factors on Students’ Performance in Computer Science Questionnaire (PIPSFSPCSQ). The descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while the Chi-Square was used to test the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings from reveal that, parent’s financial status, educational level, occupation influenced students’ performance in computer science. The study also discovered that the level of involvement and support that parent give to their children influences their performance. The study recommended amongst others that, parents are encouraged to invest in educational resources, such as computers or internet access, if financially feasible, and actively engage with their children’s studies.
