PREVALENCE OF LOW BACK PAIN EXPERIENCED BY PRACTICING RADIOGRAPHY IN IBADAN METROPOLIS
Abstract
The prevalence of low back pain (LBP) among practicing radiographers in Ibadan metropolis
presents a significant occupational health challenge. This study aims to investigate the
prevalence, associated risk factors, and impact of LBP on radiographers' professional and
personal lives. Utilizing a crosssectional survey design, data were collected from radiographers
across various healthcare facilities in Ibadan. The findings reveal a high prevalence of LBP,
primarily attributed to prolonged standing, repetitive movements, and manual handling of heavy
equipment. The impact of LBP was evident in reduced work performance and quality of life.
Recommendations include implementing ergonomic interventions and regular occupational
health assessments to mitigate these risks. The study underscores the need for targeted strategies
to enhance workplace safety and health standards for radiographers, ultimately contributing to
improved healthcare services in Ibadan.
