CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND BANK PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA.A CASE STUDY OF ZENITH BANK (1990-2023)
Abstract
ABSTRACT The persistent issue of high defect rates in manufacturing processes poses significant challenges to product quality and consumer satisfaction in Nigeria. This study investigates the impact of quality control systems on the reduction of defect rates at the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) in Abuja. The main objective is to assess how SON’s quality control mechanisms influence the frequency of manufacturing and inspection errors. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected through field surveys and analyzed using regression analysis and ANOVA to test the hypothesis that quality control systems do not significantly reduce defects. The findings reveal a strong and statistically significant relationship between quality control implementation and defect rate reduction, with quality control systems explaining over 95% of the variance in defect rates. The study concludes that effective quality control processes substantially minimize manufacturing errors and enhance product reliability. Recommendations emphasize the need for continuous improvement in quality control technologies and regular workforce training to sustain defect reduction and improve overall operational efficiency at SON.
