ASSESSING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF REGULATORY FRAMEWORK IN REDUCING BUILDING COLLAPSE IN MINNA CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the effectiveness of regulatory frameworks in reducing building collapses in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. The objectives include examining existing frameworks, evaluating their effectiveness, identifying implementation challenges, and proposing strategies for improvement. A descriptive research design was adopted, using questionnaires distributed to 100 stakeholders, with 81 valid responses analyzed. Quantitative data analysis techniques, including frequency distributions, percentages, and the Relative Importance Index (RII), were employed to evaluate regulatory compliance, enforcement challenges, and proposed solutions. The findings reveal gaps in enforcement, limited awareness, and stakeholder collaboration as significant challenges. The study recommends enhanced training programs, increased government oversight, and the integration of technology to strengthen compliance and safety measures. This research provides actionable insights to improve construction practices and reduce building collapse incidents in Minna.
