DEVELOPMENT OF A BIOMETRI BASED IGNITION SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOBILE CAR
Abstract
The development of a biometric ignition system for automobile cars is aimed at improving vehicle security through the use of fingerprint authentication. Conventional car ignition systems rely on mechanical keys or remote keyless entry systems, which can be stolen, duplicated, or hacked. A biometric ignition system uses unique human characteristics, such as fingerprints, to verify the identity of authorized users before allowing the vehicle engine to start.
This project involves the design and implementation of a fingerprint-based ignition control system using a microcontroller, fingerprint sensor, relay module, and automobile ignition interface. The system stores authorized fingerprints in a database and compares scanned fingerprints against the stored templates. When a match is found, the ignition circuit is activated; otherwise, the engine remains locked.
The proposed system provides enhanced security, reduces vehicle theft, and improves user convenience. The project demonstrates how biometric technology can be integrated into modern automotive systems to achieve safer and more reliable vehicle access and operation.
