FFECT OF CONSUMER ATTITUDE TOWARDS MADE IN NIGERIA GOODS (A CASE STUDY OF ASO OKE ILORIN)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examined the effect of consumer attitude towards Made-in-Nigeria goods, using Aso Oke products in Ilorin as a case study. Consumer attitude plays a significant role in determining purchasing behavior and the success of locally manufactured products. Despite government efforts to promote indigenous industries and encourage patronage of locally produced goods, many consumers still exhibit preferences for imported products. The study was conducted to assess consumers' perceptions, preferences, and attitudes towards Aso Oke and other Made-in-Nigeria products and their implications for local economic development.
The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Primary data were collected through the administration of structured questionnaires to consumers, traders, and producers of Aso Oke in Ilorin, while secondary data were obtained from textbooks, journals, newspapers, and relevant publications. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools such as frequency tables, percentages, and mean scores.
