DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF WAEC CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION SYSTEM USING QR CODE SCANNER
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Certificate verification plays a vital role in ensuring the authenticity of academic credentials. Traditional methods of certificate verification, which are often manual and partially reliant on third-party organizations, have proven to be tedious, time-consuming, and prone to forgery. This project aims to address these challenges by designing a WAEC certificate verification system using QR code technology. The proposed system allows the creation, management, and verification of certificates in a digital and automated manner, significantly reducing reliance on manual processes. The system adopts the Waterfall Model of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which ensures a structured approach to development. Key phases include requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. By integrating encrypted QR codes with student records, the system enables administrators to generate certificates and verifiers to validate them using smartphones or QR scanners. Ultimately, the project highlights the potential of information technology in revolutionizing certificate verification processes.
