Abstract

The study evaluated the influence of organizational climate on employee’s turnover in healthcare industry. Organizational climate has garnered significant attention in organizational behaviour research, largely due to its critical influence on employee attitudes, behaviours, and overall organizational effectiveness. It objectives examined the impact of peopleoriented climate on employee’s turnover, impact of rule-oriented climate on employee’s turnover in healthcare industry in Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive research design, and data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to selected staff of the Polytechnic. The population comprised 200 staff members, from which a sample size of 133 respondents was drawn using a simple random sampling technique. Data collected were presented in tabular form and analyzed using regression statistics. The findings revealed that there is significant impact of peopleoriented on employee’s turnover in healthcare industry in Nigeria. This indicates that when organizations prioritize interpersonal relationships, effective communication, recognition of contributions, and genuine concern for staff well-being, employees are more likely to feel valued and supported, which reduces their intention to leave. Furthermore, the findings of the study also revealed that rule-oriented demonstrated a significant but weaker effect on employee turnover in the Nigerian healthcare industry. This indicates that while adherence to rules and procedures influences employees’ decision to stay or leave, its impact is less pronounced compared to people-oriented factors. It was recommended that Healthcare organizations should foster open communication, recognize employee contributions, and show genuine concern for staff well-being to strengthen commitment and reduce turnover Keywords: Climate, People-Oriented Climate, Rule-Oriented Climate, Employee Turnover, Organizational Climate
