Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examined the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy on national development, using Sanga Local Government Area as a case study. The removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2023 generated widespread economic and social reactions due to its impact on fuel prices, transportation costs, business activities, and the general standard of living. The study aimed to determine the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the cost of living, transportation, business operations, and national development in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Data were collected from one hundred (100) respondents selected through simple random sampling techniques. The instruments used for data collection included structured questionnaires and interviews. Data obtained were analyzed using frequency tables, percentages, and chi-square statistical techniques.
