SOCIO ECONOMICS STATUS OF COUPLES AND MARITAL SATISFACTION

The study examined the influence of socio-economic factors in marital satisfaction , the study examined the following objectives to find if children-gender influence couples’ marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa: To examine intimacy can influence couple’s marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa :to examine if year of marriage could influence marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa.: to find out level of libido could influence marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa.. based on this, the study examined the following research questions Does gender of children influence marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa.: Does intimacy influence marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa.: Does years of Marriage influence marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa.: Does level of libido influence marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa. The study adopted the Dynamic Goal Theory as the theoretical framework, the study adopted the mixed method as the research design, while purposive sampling method was adopted to select 150 participants for the study. Result showed that Intimacy is key in maintaining marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa: Iibido is a key factor in maintaining marital satisfaction among couples in Yenagoa: The study also concludes that there are other socio-economic factors that are important in maintaining marital satisfaction among couples , communication skill ,finances are all to be considered in maintaining marital satisfaction :Years of marriage also have significant factor in ensuring marital satisfaction among married couples in Yenagoa. The study recommended that Married people should find ways of improving in the level of intimacy in their marital relationship. Also, they should heighten the level of their sexual experiences in order to improve the level of their marital satisfaction. It is also recommended that married couples should be intentional about their marriages, when not being intentionally engaged in relationship, during these times, it definitely would result in their relationship suffering from lack of concentration which will obviously bring about marital dissatisfaction.
