Abstract
Abstract
This research project explores the nuanced landscape of public perception and attitudes toward the utilization of flyers as tools for marketing and publicity in Osogbo, Osun State. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and theoretical frameworks to garner insights into residents' awareness, preferences, and behaviors concerning flyer-based communication. The research is grounded in Cultural Dimensions Theory and Selective Exposure Theory, aligning residents' attitudes with these theoretical frameworks to enrich our understanding of the cultural nuances and exposure dynamics influencing flyer effectiveness. The initial phase of the study reveals a foundational awareness of flyers among Osogbo residents, with a majority acknowledging the presence and distribution of these marketing materials. However, the study identifies an opportunity for improvement in proactive engagement, as indicated by a lower percentage of residents actively seeking information on flyers. Subsequent analyses delve into specific aspects of flyer usage, highlighting the pivotal role of visual appeal, clarity of message, and cultural relevance in shaping residents' receptiveness. The resonance with theoretical frameworks emphasizes the cultural nuances influencing attitudes and the impact of exposure frequency on overall engagement. The synthesis of existing empirical works related to flyer effectiveness enriches the project's theoretical foundation, aligning findings with established research in the field. The study concludes with four practical recommendations for businesses, organizations, and marketers aiming to optimize their flyer-based marketing strategies in Osogbo. These recommendations include enhancing cultural sensitivity in design and content, developing strategic distribution plans, optimizing visual design and message clarity, and launching educational campaigns to encourage proactive engagement. In conclusion, this project offers a comprehensive examination of flyer effectiveness in Osogbo, providing valuable insights for stakeholders aiming to navigate the complexities of local perceptions and attitudes toward marketing tools. The findings contribute to the broader academic discourse on communication studies and marketing research while offering practical recommendations for optimizing flyer campaigns in the specific cultural context of Osogbo, Osun State.
