EVALUATION OF PUBLICATIONS ON THE KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE OF PHARMACEUTICAL CARE PRACTICE BY HOSPITAL PHARMACISTS IN GOOGLE SCHOLAR FROM 2021 TILL DATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: The role of hospital pharmacists has evolved within the health care
system over the years. This takes into account the global context, where health care systems are
adapting to the changing landscape of pharmacy practice from a product – oriented care to a
patient – oriented care. To align with these changes, it is essential to assess the knowledge and
attitude of hospital pharmacists towards pharmaceutical care for improvement and growth in the
field of pharmaceutical care practice.
AIM: The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive assessment of publications on
hospital pharmacist’s current knowledge and attitudes regarding pharmaceutical care practice on
Google scholar from 2021 till date.
METHOD: This study was conducted exclusively on Google scholar which employed a
structured approach to develop relevant search terms. Boolean operators were applied to identify
studies that precisely match the research focus. The application of search filters and limiters
helped tailor the search strategy to meet specific needs and the results derived from the data
extraction and analysis processes were conveyed through a descriptive narrative format.
RESULT: A total of 75 articles were identified through the search. Duplicate articles were
removed resulting in 58 articles. After an abstract review was conducted, 39 articles were
retained. Through a comprehensive evaluation, 21 studies were considered suitable for inclusion
and then subjected to in – depth analysis as they met the criteria and addressed aspects related to
the research topic.
CONCLUSION: With hospital pharmacists collaborating with diverse health care teams, there
has been improvement in patient’s outcomes. While hospital pharmacists demonstrated a high
level of knowledge and a positive attitude towards MTM, several barriers hindered it’s
comprehensive implementation.
