Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the application of the dialogic approach as a tool for conflict resolution between the management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa and the surrounding neighborhood communities in Offa Local Government Area. The dialogic approach emphasizes open communication, mutual respect, and collaborative problem-solving to address conflicts and foster harmonious relationships. The research highlights the historical context of the disputes, rooted in land use, environmental concerns, and socioeconomic interactions between the institution and its host communities. It investigates the effectiveness of dialogue sessions, stakeholder engagements, and community partnership initiatives in resolving tensions and promoting sustainable development. Findings reveal that adopting a dialogic framework has significantly improved trust, reduced misunderstandings, and enhanced cooperation between the polytechnic and the communities. The study concludes by recommending strategies for institutionalizing the dialogic approach to ensure long-term conflict management and socio-economic growth in the region.
