DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A PORTABLE 1.2KVA POWER SUPPLY FOR AN ELECTRONIC PROJECTOR
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The growing dependence on electronic projectors in classrooms, seminars, religious gatherings, and outdoor events necessitates a reliable, portable, and cost-effective power source. Conventional public power supply is often unstable and may cause interruption during presentations. This project presents the design and construction of a 1.2 kVA portable power supply system capable of efficiently powering an electronic projector and other low– medium power devices. The system comprises a step-down charger unit, a 12V/200Ah sealed lead-acid battery, a pure sine-wave inverter circuit (1.2 kVA capacity), and a protective casing. The design methodology involves power requirement estimation, component selection, inverter design, and system integration. The constructed prototype was tested and found to provide an output of 220V AC, 50Hz, capable of running a multimedia projector continuously for 2–3 hours. The system demonstrates portability, efficiency, and reliability, making it suitable for educational, domestic and commercial applications.
