Abstract

Signage is a critical tool of communication, identity, and branding, particularly in institutions where clarity and visibility are essential. This project was undertaken to fabricate an entrance signage for the Faculty of Environmental Design at Federal University Lafia. The absence of a clear signage had often resulted in confusion among visitors and weakened the faculty’s professional outlook. The project methodology involved four main stages: development of manual sketches (thumbnails, semi-comprehensive, and comprehensive layouts), digitization and refinement using CorelDraw and Photoshop, fabrication of raised letters from 3mm white plastic board reinforced with 10mm foam board, outlining of letters using spray-paint masking techniques, and final installation on the faculty wall with adhesives and nails The completed signage proved durable, legible, and aesthetically appealing. It enhanced the faculty’s visibility and institutional identity while also demonstrating the practical application of design and fabrication principles.
