Abstract

organizational strategy due to the increasing financial, operational, environmental, and regulatory uncertainties associated with real estate assets. Corporate real estate decisions involve significant capital commitments and exposure to risks such as property market fluctuations, inadequate maintenance, legal constraints, security challenges, and environmental hazards. Effective CRERM approaches help organizations identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor these risks while enhancing asset performance and supporting business continuity. This study, titled “Assessing Corporate Real Estate Risk Management (CRERM) Approaches in Ibadan, Oyo State,” examines the risk management practices adopted by corporate organizations in managing their real estate assets. The study aims to identify the major risks affecting corporate real estate, assess the strategies employed to manage these risks, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing CRERM approaches within the study area. It focuses on areas such as risk identification, property asset evaluation, insurance practices, maintenance management, regulatory compliance, diversification strategies, and the integration of risk management into corporate decision-making processes. A quantitative research approach will be adopted, using questionnaires and interviews administered to selected corporate organizations, real estate professionals, and property managers in Ibadan. Data collected will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to determine the level of adoption and effectiveness of CRERM practices. The study is expected to reveal the prevailing risk management methods, challenges limiting effective implementation, and opportunities for improving corporate real estate resilience. The findings will contribute to improved corporate real estate management practices by providing recommendations for organizations, estate practitioners, and policymakers on developing more proactive and integrated risk management frameworks. The study will also enhance understanding of how effective CRERM approaches can protect corporate assets, reduce uncertainties, and improve long-term organizational performance in Ibadan, Oyo State.
