THROMBOLYTIC AND ANTICOAGULANT ACTIVITIES OF CNIDOSCOLUS ACONOTIFOLIUS LEAVE
Abstract
Cnidoscolus aconitifoliu, commonly known as Chaya is a perennial shrub native to southern Mexico and Central America,Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) such as thrombosis and embolism remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, The aim is to evaluate the thrombolytic and anticoagulant activities of Cnidoscolus aconitifolius (Chaya) leaf extracts The anticoagulant and thrombolytic activity of the leaves were tested on human blood at room temperature. The blood sample thickened over time and finally formed thick blood clot after 60 min . On the other hand, the blood sample with addition of extract no significant changes and eventually no mark of coagulation was observed after 60 min of incubation., the blood clot on the glass slide began to be liquefied gradually and was dissolved completely after 60 min .Best on conclution were make, the finding indicate that both the anticoagulant and thrombolytic activities occurred at 60 minutes.
