ABSTRACT
Theresearchworkwasconductedtoassesssomephysicochemicalparametersof Kalgo river,Kalgo localgovernmentAreaof Kebb StateofNigeria.Physicalparameterssuchastemperatureandturbidityweremeasuredinthefield.Otherphysico–chemicalparametersweremeasuredatagriculturephysicalandchemicallaboratory,UsmanuDanfodiyoUniversitySokoto.Thedatageneratedwereanalyzedusinganalysisofvariance(ANOVA).WatertemperaturewashighestinJanuarywithmeanof28.50±0.5andminimuminDecemberwiththemean26.76.Turbiditywassignificantlylow,itwasmaximuminDecemberwiththemean23.0.50±0.5andminimuminJanuarywiththemean23.0±1.49.totaldissolvedsolid(TDS)wasalso,rangedfromminimuminDecemberwithmean221.00±100tomaximumof268.25±1.75inJanuary.Chemicalparameterswerewithintheoptimumrange.DissolvedoxygenwasmaximuminJanuarywithmeanof7.40andminimuminDecemberwiththemeanof5.87.Hydrogenionsconcentration(PH).wasmaximuminDecemberwithmeanof7.5±0.05andminimuminJanuarywiththemeanof6.91,Biologicaloxygendemand(BOD)wasextremelyhighwiththemeanmaximumof35.50±0.5inJanuaryandminimummeanof31.79.
