Abstract

This study investigates the impact of community contributions on the delivery of the Islamic Studies curriculum in post-Basic schools in Dala Local government Kano State, Nigeria. Utilizing a descriptive survey research design, data were collected from 336 respondents, including Islamic Studies teachers, principals, and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) officials. The findings reveal that both urban and rural communities significantly contribute to the delivery of the Islamic Studies curriculum, with a strong emphasis on the provision of physical infrastructure, instructional materials, and guidance and counseling programs. Community leaders and parents play pivotal roles in supporting educational activities, while local businesses and authorities are encouraged to enhance their involvement. Despite the positive contributions, gaps remain in resource allocation and the frequency of community engagement. The study concludes that while community involvement is substantial, a more systematic and collaborative approach is necessary to maximize its potential. Recommendations include enhancing community engagement, improving financial and material support, and building capacity for teachers. Future research is suggested to explore the differences in community support between urban and rural schools and the long-term effects of community involvement on students' academic performance and moral development.
