Abstract

This study examines the effect of delegation of authority on workers’ performance in an organization. Delegation of authority is a vital managerial function that involves assigning responsibility and decision-making power to subordinates to enhance efficiency and productivity. The objective of the study is to assess how delegation influences employee performance, motivation, job satisfaction, and overall organizational effectiveness. The study adopts a descriptive research design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using simple statistical tools such as frequency and percentage. The findings reveal that effective delegation of authority significantly improves workers’ performance by increasing responsibility, boosting morale, and enhancing job satisfaction. It also reduces managerial workload and promotes faster decision-making within the organization. However, the study also identifies challenges such as lack of trust, inadequate communication, and insufficient employee competence, which may hinder effective delegation. Based on the findings, it is concluded that proper delegation of authority is essential for improving organizational performance. The study recommends that managers should adopt clear communication, provide adequate training, and build trust with employees to ensure effective delegation practices. Keywords: Delegation of authority, workers performance, organizational efficiency, employee motivation, leadership, productivity.
