DEVELOPMENT OF A SECURE CLOUD STORAGE FOR STUDENT DATA IN FPI USING INTELLIGENT MOBILE AGENTS
Abstract
Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of a secure, real-time, cloud-based storage
system for managing student data at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. As educational institutions
increasingly digitize administrative and academic processes, the need for scalable and secure data
storage platforms becomes paramount. Traditional systems often suffer from hardware failures,
lack of redundancy, and limited accessibility, posing risks to the integrity and availability of
critical student records. The proposed system integrates mobile agents and the Reed–Solomon
error correction algorithm into a cloudinarycloud infrastructure to ensure autonomous data
handling, secure transmission, and reliable recovery. Mobile agents function as intelligent
software entities that autonomously manage data movement, synchronization, and monitoring
tasks across distributed cloud nodes, reducing latency and enhancing system responsiveness. To
bolster fault tolerance, the Reed–Solomon algorithm encodes uploaded files with redundancy,
allowing corrupted or partially lost files to be reconstructed accurately during retrieval. The
system leverages Cloudinary for real-time synchronization and secure backend operations, while
Cloudinary handles file storage. Python (Flask) forms the core backend, managing encoding logic,
user authentication, and middleware functions, while the frontend, built using HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, and Bootstrap, delivers a responsive and user-friendly interface. Testing demonstrated
the system’s ability to recover files accurately even when partial data corruption occurred.
Administrative features include user management, upload tracking, and real-time report
generation. Students are provided with dashboards to view, manage, and recover uploaded
academic resources. The integration of intelligent mobile agents and robust error-correcting
mechanisms creates a cloud platform that is secure, efficient, and resilient. This study serves as a
reference model for institutions transitioning to secure, cloud-based data systems, emphasizing
the importance of intelligent automation, real-time data handling, and fault-tolerant architecture
in educational environments.
