DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A LOCATION BASED EMERGENCY SYSTEM USING ANDROID DEVICES FOR UNICROSS
Abstract
The _ocation Based Emergency System Using Android Devices for UNICROSS
addrc‘sses the critical gap in emergency management within the university
environment. Currently, emergency reporting relies on manual communication
methods such as phone calls and in-person notifications, leading to delayed responses
and communication inefficiencies. This study designed and implemented a mobilebasec
emergency management system using React Native Expo for the frontend,
Node.js with Express.js for the backend, and MongoDB for data storage, all deployed
on A'WS cloud infrastructure. The system employs a three-tier architecture comprising
preseatation, application, and data tiers to ensure scalability and security. The
methodology adopted was Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology
(OOADM), utilizing use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams for
system modeling. Testing revealed significant improvements in emergency response
times, enhanced location accuracy through GPS integration, and improved
communication efficiency. This research contributes to campus safety management by
providing a technological solution that enhances emergency preparedness and
response coordination within academic institutions.
