DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMUNITY HELP HUB (A CASE STUDY OF KABALA COSTAIN KADUNA)
Abstract
A community help hub system is designed to bridge the gap in digital accessibility
for seeking and providing support within local communities. The aim of this study,
design and implement a Community Help Hub System that provides a unified,
mobile-friendly digital space for residents of Kabala Costain, Kaduna, to request
support, offer services, and share resources in real-time. The motivation for this
project stems from the challenge residents face in finding reliable and timely help
for day-to-day needs, as existing global platforms are not localized and often
require higher technical literacy. This results in a lack of centralized, easy-to-use
systems for community assistance. The methodology adopted in this study is the
Agile development approach, which ensures iterative development, continuous
user involvement, and rapid adaptation to evolving requirements. The system was
implemented using a web-based architecture comprising HTML, CSS, PHP, and
MySQL, wrapped in an Android WebView mobile application to ensure platform
independence and accessibility on both desktop and mobile devices. The
implementation of the proposed system will promote community self-reliance,
foster stronger social bonds, and offer a scalable model that can be adapted to other
developing communities. The expected result is a functional, user-friendly, and
adaptable Kabala Community Hub System that significantly enhances mutual
assistance and resource sharing
