AN ASSESSMENT OF PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF INSURANCE FIRMS IN NIGERIA: EVIDENCE FROM THE NATIONAL INSURANCE CORPORATION OF NIGERIA (NICON)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The research work assessed problems and the important roles played by insurance to the development of the Nigerian economy. The insurance industry refers to the facilities that are available for the provision of insurance and the operations are made up of insurance public who are the sellers and also buyers in some cases and the insurance agents and brokers who are the said intermediaries. This study was conducted on the basis of cross-sectional survey of the existing documents in controlling data. Data was collected from primary sources using questionnaires and secondary sources such as Nigerian Reinsurance Corporation Book, Nigerian insurance Year Book (2008), NICON at 25’ Anniversary Journal, as published by the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria (NAICOM),Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical . Data analysis and presentation involves the ordering or breakdown of data in to constituent parts in order to obtain answers to research question.
