Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing demand for convenience, energy efficiency, and security in residential environments has driven the adoption of home automation systems globally. However, many existing systems remain complex, expensive, and inaccessible, particularly in developing regions. This project addresses these challenges by designing and constructing a cost-effective and functional home automation system using the ESP32 microcontroller and the Blynk IoT platform. The system enables users to remotely monitor and control household appliances, such as lights and fans, in real-time from a smartphone via a Wi-Fi connection. The ESP32 serves as the central processing unit, interfacing with a 2-channel relay module to safely switch AC loads. The Blynk mobile application provides an intuitive user interface with virtual buttons for seamless control. A dedicated power supply unit was constructed to provide stable DC power to the control circuitry. The implemented system was rigorously tested and demonstrated reliable performance, with a response time of less than one second for executing control commands. The results confirm that the project successfully met its objectives of creating a functional automation system, enabling remote control, and promoting energy efficiency by preventing unnecessary power consumption. The project concludes that the integration of the ESP32 and Blynk offers a practical, scalable, and affordable solution for modern smart home applications, with recommendations for future enhancements including sensor integration and voice control capabilities.
