Abstract

ABSTRACT The quality and suitability of different commercial boreholes and household storages in Unwana and Afikpo Communities for drinking has been evaluated. A total of eight (8) water samples from commercial boreholes and household storages from selected points within Unwana and Afikpo Communities were analysed for their physiochemical and microbial parameters. Understanding how proper drinking water sanitation and adequate application of the WHO and NSDWQ standard/guidelines for drinking water quality should be practiced in boreholes and household storages is necessary for designing effective strategies that can meet their drinking water requirements in the study areas. Water test analysis should also be made a norm while drilling commercial boreholes to ascertain the safe and purified quality of drinking water.
