Abstract

This study investigated teachers' perception on the use of blockchain technology to improve secondary school Biology students' performance in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The target population consisted of Biology teachers in public secondary schools within the study area. A sample of 100 respondents was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire titled "Teachers' Perception on Blockchain Technology Questionnaire (TPBTQ)." The instrument was validated by experts in educational technology and Biology education, while reliability was established using Cronbach's Alpha with a coefficient of 0.82. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that most teachers have a positive perception towards the adoption of blockchain technology in Biology teaching despite challenges such as inadequate ICT facilities, lack of training, and poor internet connectivity. The study concluded that blockchain technology has the potential to improve transparency, security, student record management, and academic performance in Biology education. It recommended adequate teacher training, improved ICT infrastructure, and government support for technology integration in secondary schools.
