Abstract

The study examined the use of technology in improving work productivity in Kebbi State. The rapid advancement of digital tools and innovations has significantly transformed workplace operations, making efficiency and effectiveness critical for organizational growth and development. The objectives of the study were to identify the types of technologies used in workplaces across Kebbi State, assess the extent to which technology has enhanced productivity, examine the challenges faced in adopting and utilizing technology, and suggest strategies for improved technology usage. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design with a sample size of 200 respondents drawn from public and private organizations in Kebbi State. A structured questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection, and data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, and mean scores. Findings revealed that technologies such as computers, internet services, mobile devices, and specialized software are widely used to enhance administrative, educational, and business processes. The results further showed that technology has improved productivity by enabling faster communication, reducing manual workload, and supporting decision-making. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, insufficient training, high cost of technological facilities, and resistance to change hinder optimal utilization. The study concluded that while technology has a significant positive impact on work productivity, its potential is not fully harnessed due to these constraints. It was recommended that government and organizations invest more in infrastructure, provide continuous capacity-building programs, and implement supportive policies to encourage wider adoption of technology for sustainable productivity improvement in Kebbi State.
