Abstract

This study examined the effect of logistics management on organizational performance with special reference to Rite Foods Limited, Ikeja, Lagos State. The main aim of the research was to find out how logistics components such as transportation management, inventory management, and warehousing management contribute to the overall performance of an organization. In recent years, logistics has become an important part of business operations in Nigeria as firms seek ways to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and increase customer satisfaction. The study adopted a survey research design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 500 respondents, out of which 330 were completed and returned. The data were analyzed using frequency tables, percentages, and Chi-square statistical methods to test the stated hypotheses. The findings revealed that effective transportation management significantly reduces operational costs and enhances profitability. Similarly, inventory management was found to improve productivity, ensure smooth operations, and boost customer satisfaction. The study also discovered that proper warehousing management contributes to better workflow, timely delivery, and improved product quality. The Chi-square analysis showed that all three logistics components transportation, inventory, and warehousing have a significant positive effect on organizational performance. The study concluded that logistics management is a key driver of success for manufacturing firms in Nigeria. When properly handled, it helps organizations cut down on waste, improve efficiency, and gain a competitive advantage in the market. It was recommended that companies should invest in modern logistics technology, maintain effective planning systems, and train employees on efficient logistics operations. Doing so will not only improve service delivery but also enhance profitability and long-term growth. Overall, this study emphasized that good logistics management is essential for business survival and growth in today’s competitive environment, especially within the Nigerian manufacturing industry.
