Abstract

This project presents the design and construction of a 1.5kVA/12V solar powered inverter with an integrated surge protective device (SPD). it is developed to convert direct current (DC) from solar panels and batteries into Alternating current (AC) suitable for powering household and small office appliances. A charge controller is included to regulate the battery charging process, preventing overcharging and deep discharge. The inverter circuit employs power electronic components such as MOSFETs and a transformer to generate a stable 220V, 50Hz AC output. A key feature of this project is the integration of a surge protective device, which provide protection against voltage spike caused by lightning or electrical faults. This enhances the reliability and lifespan of both the inverter and connected appliances. This project demonstrates practical applications of power electronics, renewable energy technologies and electrical safety systems
