DEVELOPMENT OF A STUDENT ADMISSION COUNSELING SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Student Admission Counseling System (SACS) is designed to address the challenges faced by students and families during the admission process in higher education institutions. This abstract provides an overview of the system's architecture, functionality, and benefits. Existing admission methods often lack personalized guidance and updated information, leading to confusion and inefficiencies in decision-making.
SACS aims to mitigate these issues by providing customized support and real-time information to users. The primary objective of SACS is to streamline the admission process by assisting users in assessing their interests, exploring academic paths, estimating financial costs, and accessing relevant information about schools and courses. It employs a client-server architecture, facilitating scalability and centralized data management. Data was collected using interviews, behavioral tracking and feedback forms. The current system was carefully analyzed, the strengths and weaknesses were identified and a new system was proposed. SACS was designed using Unified Modeling Language and implemented using CSS, HTML and jQUERY. MYSQL was used to store data while Cross Platform (X), Apache (X), MariaDB (M), PHP (P) and Perl (P) (XAMPP) was used as the web server.
The implementation of SACS results in improved access to information, enhanced decision-making, and increased user satisfaction. Users benefit from personalized recommendations, real-time updates, and efficient communication channels.
