Abstract

ABSTRACT This project focused on the design and development of a solar battery charger with a Wi-Fi-based monitoring and control system. The primary objective was to create a smart charging solution capable of monitoring key power parameters such as voltage, current, and battery status, while offering users real-time feedback and remote control through a web-based interface. The system is powered mainly by an AC supply, with a provision for solar energy integration, and it was designed to charge a 12V, 200Ah tubular battery. The methodology involved selecting appropriate components, including the ESP32 microcontroller for wireless connectivity and control, voltage and current sensors for real-time monitoring, a buck converter for voltage regulation, and a 16x2 LCD for local display. The system was first simulated using Proteus software, then constructed on a Vero board after successful breadboard testing. A web application was developed to enable remote access and control via Wi-Fi. Final testing validated the effectiveness of the charger, confirming that it accurately monitors the battery status and regulates the charging process to prevent overcharging and undercharging. The results demonstrated that the system operates reliably, with seamless communication between the hardware and web interface. The inclusion of visual and audio indicators further enhances usability. In conclusion, the developed system successfully meets the goals of intelligent battery charging and real-time monitoring, offering both safety and user convenience.
